On August 23, 1873, The Tates Creek Predestinarian Baptist Association was organized at what was then called the Old Baptist Church in Richmond. Old minutes show that in 1873, blacks drew off from the white association, although retaining the same name, as it is a biblical name and the Lord said He would give it a name.
